I was paid 3000 to wipe CCTV footage, claims arrested technician

In a fresh twist in the Albert Ojwang’ case, police officers have arrested a city electrical technician over tampering of Central Police Station’s CCTV.

Following the detention of Moses Mukhwana, a police officer attached to Central Police Station, late June 12, the police have made another arrest in connection to the Ojwang’ saga.

In what appears to be a sinister move to clear tracks in the Albert Ojwang’ murder case, the technician claims to have been offered a 3000 payment to wipe clean surveillance recordings between June 6 to June 8 at the Central Police Station.

This comes barely a day after demos heat up the better part of Nairobi CBD, in attempts to demand for justice for the slain Migori teacher and X influencer Albert Ojwang’.

There have been calls for the Deputy Inspector General of police, Eliud Lagat to step aside for investigations after he was named as the complainant to the late Ojwang’s social media post.

In an attempt to cover up Ojwang’s cause of death, the police had earlier issued a  statement that he died due to self inflicted injuries on the head.

However, the claims were later debunked following a postmoterm report by a five-man team of pathologist who found out that the late Ojwang’ was murdered.

In a Senate hearing on June 11, the Inspector General of police, Douglas Kanja issued a public apology for peddling lies about the death of Ojwang’.

It's not true Albert Ojwang hit his head on the wall, I apologise on behalf of the National Police Service, IG Kanja.

Directorate of criminal investigations, Amin Mohamed claimed that Central Police Station OCS Samson Tallam is the prime suspect in this case.
